Stretch your legs whilst enjoying spectacular views of lush, green, Andean countryside on one of the many hikes on offer to suit all abilities. At Rose Cottage we are lucky enough to be within 40 mins walking distance of the secluded Taxopamba waterfalls.
If you’re feeling fit why not try the 2 hour hike from the Lagunas de Mojanda up to Fuya Fuya from 3600 to 4200 metres above sea level. This hike provides amazing panoramic views of Otavalo, Lago San Pablo, the glacier on Cayembe (the only place on the equator with ice on it), and if you’re lucky views of Cotopaxi and the Quito valley. We recommend starting early for this one.
If that does not tickle your fancy and you want to stay a little closer to home, catch a glimpse of traditional Andean life strolling down to town through neighbouring, picturesque villages or drive up to Cuicocha and take a boat ride on the spectacular crater lake. For the adventurous you can hike round this crater in about 4 and a half hours.
