The earthquake on the coast in the province of Manabi has not affected Hosteria Rose Cottage, we are in the province of Imbabura in the Andes about 100 miles from the epicentre on the coast. We had 11 visitors in the Hosteria when the earthquake happened, they felt hardly anything. We are very much open for business with new tourists arriving today as usual.
Though we are not affected, we can help by giving aid to those that need it. Rose Cottage Ecuador has decided to do so by supporting the local charity KAHRE. Kahre is a Ecuador-focused NGO, made up of a network of local professionals that volunteer to aid development. By Sunday it had switched 100% of its focus to the earthquake and formed the Juntos Por Manabi unit to help Manabi, the worst-hit province. Using donated trucks and private planes they have already brought medicine, water, food and aid workers to some of the most isolated towns in Manabi. This is an all volounteer organisation, so every cent they raise can be used to help Ecuadoreans in their hour of need. To donate type in www.kahre.org and scroll down to #juntospormanabi.
Oxfam have also started a campaign, type in www.oxfam.org.uk/EcuadorEarthquake to support it.
Thanks.
